Law and Order without Writers

Posted by: Andee / Category:

As a couch potato I am ready for the writers strike to be over. I miss my shows! Luckily for me, random cast members from Law and Order made this little spoof to show their respect and admiration for their writers. It's funny as hell, you should watch it.

Poor Kitty!

Posted by: Andee / Category:

Animal control officials in Hunterdon County rescued a feral cat today that had been wandering for days with its head stuck in a glass jar.

The 8-month old domestic shorthair male was found wedged under a deck along Routes 202/31 in Raritan Township. A veterinarian used cooking oil to remove the container, described as a mason jar, typically used to store vegetables or fruit.

"We just worked a little on the neck and it popped right off," said Thomas Dodd, the animal control officer for Raritan Township.

Officials found the cat around 5:30 a.m. "hollering and screaming" with its rear end jutting from under the deck of a real estate office.

The animal had been seen walking the property near the Copper Hill Country Club, but efforts to catch him were unsuccessful.

The cat will be transported to the Hunterdon Humane Animal Shelter on Friday, and will be available for adoption after seven days, officials said.

Polish teen derails tram after hacking train network

Posted by: Andee / Category:

A Polish teenager allegedly turned the tram system in the city of Lodz into his own personal train set, triggering chaos and derailing four vehicles in the process. Twelve people were injured in one of the incidents.

This photo is NOT from the incident in the article... I just really liked it... hahaha

The 14-year-old modified a TV remote control so that it could be used to change track points, The Telegraph reports. Local police said the youngster trespassed in tram depots to gather information needed to build the device. The teenager told police that he modified track setting for a prank.

"He studied the trams and the tracks for a long time and then built a device that looked like a TV remote control and used it to manoeuvre the trams and the tracks," said Miroslaw Micor, a spokesman for Lodz police.

"He had converted the television control into a device capable of controlling all the junctions on the line and wrote in the pages of a school exercise book where the best junctions were to move trams around and what signals to change.

"He treated it like any other schoolboy might a giant train set, but it was lucky nobody was killed. Four trams were derailed, and others had to make emergency stops that left passengers hurt. He clearly did not think about the consequences of his actions," Micor added.

Transport command and control systems are commonly designed by engineers with little exposure or knowledge about security using commodity electronics and a little native wit. The apparent ease with which Lodz's tram network was hacked, even by these low standards, is still a bit of an eye opener.

Problems with the signalling system on Lodz's tram network became apparent on Tuesday when a driver attempting to steer his vehicle to the right was involuntarily taken to the left. As a result the rear wagon of the train jumped the rails and collided with another passing tram. Transport staff immediately suspected outside interference.

The youth, described by his teachers as an electronics buff and exemplary student, faces charges at a special juvenile court of endangering public safety.

Nicotine Mittens

Posted by: Andee / Category:

Roomie was talking about quitting smoking just because he had to smoke outside... I can't count the number of times he complained about going out into the "damn cold." Well, lucky for him someone was designing and manufacturing Nicotine Mittens!

Finally nicotine addicts have the answer to all their winter woes with Smoking Mittens.

As the days get colder and smokers feel the full force of the ban these handy mittens will leave any smoker the envy of their cigarette break buddies.

With a special cigarette-shaped hole in the mitten, smokers can light-up without exposing their digits to the harsh elements.

It doesn't even matter if the smoker is right or left-handed as the mittens are reversible.

With the slogan "Don't be left out in the cold" the smoking accessory is billed as the perfect winter gift.

They are the brain child of designer Tobias Wong, who is originally from chilly Canada but now works in New York.

Where is my birthday card?

Posted by: Andee / Category: , ,

Mom sent me a birthday card with a cash surprise in it over a week ago... it's still not here. I suppose it's not all that rare for letters/cards with standard postage to take a while, but Mom payed extra to have the letter shipped quickly. Where the hell is it? I was counting on the birthday dough to help with bills this week... argh! Roomie and I were worried someone stole it because there was cash inside. Why can't people be trustworthy? I am trustworthy? Ugh.

I guess it doesn't help when people like this are working for FedEx.... here is the story:

A Fed Ex worker rerouted packages containing 10 laptops, valued at $10,000, to his Hicksville home, Nassau police said.

Jin Hui Wu, 20, of 28 8th St., Hicksville, was arrested at the Fed Ex office on Grumman Road West in Bethpage Friday morning, detectives said.

During an internal Fed Ex audit of non-delivered packages, company officials learned that Wu stole at least nine customer packages by sending them to his home address from Nov. 26-Dec. 31, the police said.

Wu was charged with one count of grand larceny and one count of fraud.

As of Friday only four of the laptop computers have been recovered, and the investigation is continuing, police said.
How dumb can ya get? He didn't realize those packages could be tracked? Isn't that what he does for a living. Moron.

Square America

Posted by: Andee / Category: ,

I have found a website that I have fallen madly in love with... okay, thats a little extreme... but you get the point, don't you? Square America is a website that collects random photos from the past. Vintage photos with no story behind them, or where they come from (well, most of them.)

What a cute little boy. He grew up on this farm, and learned to shoot at an early age. Something about a kid holding a gun in the middle of nowhere scares me just a little. He looks like he could have grown to be some sadistic serial killer...

Looks like her mother didn't live long enough to see her get married. What a nice way to include Mom in the wedding photos... She reminds me of Madonna for some reason... maybe the dark hair resembles Madonna in the "Like a Prayer" video. Hope her marriage was a happy one...

This girl knows how to have a good time. Dancing and drinking on top of a car in the middle of nowhere. I think her name would be Louise, don't you? Maybe Cathy. Hmm... bottoms up!

July 20, 1939. I love everything about this photo, and I almost feel like I was there. Her hair and hat are perfect, perfect clothes and shoes as well. She is walking quickly down the street... why? Maybe she is an heiress to a million dollars, and she is being photographed for a magazine... or maybe she is just walking down the street and some weirdo snaps a photo. What do you think?

Check out this website... you won't regret it! -Sydney
