Well, over the past week we have lost Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. The old saying that death comes in threes is true. The news has been full of "Breaking News" alerts today.
I have always thought Ed was a lovable guy, I remember watching him on Star Search when I was a kid. Of course there were the old Tonight Show clips of him saying, "Heeeeeeere's Johnny!"
Farrah was a beautiful woman who fought like hell to with that battle over cancer. Cancer is a bitch, I lost my Dad to cancer and he fought like hell, too. She didn't want to die and she flew to Germany to receive cutting edge alternative therapy. In the end there was nothing much that could be done. I can't wait until science finds a way to cure cancer... there are too many good people out there being taken from us.
Michael Jackson is the celebrity I know the most about of the three. I don't mean to ignore the other two celebrities as the news is pretty much doing if you as me, but I don't know a whole lot about them. I am sure they were amazing people who helped a lot of others. They will all be missed.
I grew up in the 80's, and I remember watching the "Bad" music video with my Dad. My father wasn't a Jackson fan (that I knew of) but he made the comment that Jackson had an amazing talent.
The guy was larger than life, a true perfectionist who beat himself up constantly. This was probably due to the mental, emotional and physical abuse from his father. I think I recall reading something about his father telling him he had an ugly nose, and this might be the reason he was never happy with his physical appearance and constantly getting plastic surgery.
My big brother was a big fan. When he came to visit one weekend he took the time to try and teach me the moonwalk. I am proud to say that my moonwalk was better than my brother's! Of course I was the one with the dance training. :) Hahaha...
Michael Jackson didn't have a childhood. He was thrust into show business at the age of five, he didn't have a choice. He tried so hard to hold onto any thread of childhood innocence that he almost seemed child-like in many of his interviews (in my opinion). This is also what I believe caused him to constantly surround himself with children, something that caused him some trouble.
When Michael was accused of sexual molestation I had no idea what to believe. I am still on the fence about it, but I didn't follow the trial closely to listen to all evidence that was presented. I do think it's possible that the people accusing him of these things wanted money from one of the showbiz elite, but it's also possible that Jackson committed acts that he got away with.
The guy was troubled. Everyone can see that. Many newscasters are saying that he was an admitted prescription drug addict who had doctors who continued to give him prescriptions just like those who probably enabled Anna Nicole Smith.
One thing I have been thinking a lot about today is how celebrities are so huge in the world. There are people who are just as talented, kind, smart, and that contributed to society and helped their fellow man that we never hear about. Doctors who researched cancer, for instance. Sure... they are talked about in their medical community, but they are not respected as much as a guy who could dance in inventive ways, or the lady that men all over the world lusted after or the guy who introduced Johnny Carson on the tonight show.
The news on Jackson (and the others but not nearly to the same degree) is constant. Special legal analysts, doctors, mental health workers and reporters who covered his trial are being beamed into our living rooms giving commentary on his life and how today will live on forever in the minds of the people of the world. The trial was a circus, but this puts it to shame... and it isn't going to go away any time soon.
I hope all three are a peace right now. I mentioned that I have no idea what I believe in anymore a million times on this blog, but I would like to think that our souls live on somehow.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, guys. I am quite down in the dumps, and every time I sit back and try to write for the blog it sounds like a Debbie Downer clip from Saturday Night Live. I just don't want to come across as someone who is like... "Waaa... Poor me!" I don't want to be that girl.
Anyway, I just caught a re-run of one of my favorite shows... The Food Network Challenge. The challenge is for bakers to bake a birthday cake for a woman who a woman who usually judges the show, and she isn't exactly the kindest judge in the world.
Well, one of the 4 contestants, Stevie Famulari, created what can only be described as a mess. I will let some of the images speak for themselves:
Okay, I know what you are thinking... WTF??? Right? Well, the story gets even better!
When this chef was working on the cake, her kitchen area became a disaster zone. Many of the judges were commenting to the cameras confessional-style telling the viewing public that they couldn't believe the mess. Powdered sugar, chocolate, fondant, pieces of cake, and God knows what were all over the floor, tables, mixers, and themselves! It looked like they were going to need a crime scene clean-up crew to pick up after them!
Not only that, but once they made the huge move to put this piece of crap on a table, the chef said, "WAIT!!! There is more!!"
She walks over to her kitchen area and grabs a bottle of liquor. She stated that instead of birthday candles they were going to use small bowls of liquor and set them on fire. I should also mention that many other things on the cake were flammable.
Everyone in the studio stared in horror as she poured liquor in the bowls and then lit them on fire. The cake went up in flames. They had to use a fire extinguisher on the cake! The entire studio was filled with smoke and foam. What the hell was she thinking???

Many claim that the Mormon Church isn't a cult, and then in the same breath they laugh at those crazy Scientologists... it kills me every freaking time.
Anyway, I came across this article about 16 victims of the Church of Scientology, and I will share a few of them. For the rest of the victims, please go here...
Patrice Vic
Patrice Vic was a 31 year old Parisian family man with a wife and two children. He was relatively happy, until he took a Scientologist's questionnaire, and was subsequently convinced that with the Church's help, he could be even happier.
That step only cost him 3,000 francs.
He became obsessed, and distant. His wife even tried to save their marriage by going with him, and subjecting herself to an "audit," which made her so uncomfortable that she halted the process and left.
On the advice of the Church supervisor present, Mr. Vic stopped speaking to his wife altogether, and became more detached than ever. He started taking vitamins, supplied by the church, and underwent regular counseling at the local Church center, spending more and more of his dwindling funds as he went.
Finally, late one evening while in bed next to his silent wife, Patrice Vic got up and said quite simply "this is the only solution." He took a running dive over their 12th story balcony to the street below. As it turns out, Mr. Vic was unable to either find the money, or secure the loans necessary to pay for the 30,000 franc "inner purification" procedure he was assured would fix his broken life.
Raul Lopez
When Raul Lopez was critically injured in a head-on collision in 1985, doctors told him he was lucky to even be alive. The irreparable brain-trauma that was slowly killing Mr. Lopez was also impairing and degrading his mental faculties over time, but he still had most of the multi-million dollar settlement resulting from the wreck that nearly killed him.
Then he found the Church of Scientology. The CoS told him that they could succeed where modern medicine had failed, and heal Mr. Lopez.
By the time Mr. Lopez realized he had been duped, and fired his Scientologist lawyer/conservator, he had given the Church 1.3 million.
The CoS maintains that there was never any wrongdoing, since the mentally-impaired Lopez had willfully participated.Roxanne Friend
Roxanne Friend, a former Scientologist, described her experience at the Church's "Flag" facility in depositions for a law suit she filed against the Church in 1999.
Ms. Friend had been "forced" to participate in practices of which she did not want to be a part. When she attempted to leave the facility she was stopped and not allowed to leave. She was held there for several months, and denied proper treatment for both Mono and Pneumonia. She was not allowed to see her father when he travelled to see her, nor was she allowed to attend a wedding, at which she was slated to be Maid of Honor.
A year later, she tried to re-enter the Church in Florida, and was forced back into the initial procedure she refused in California. When she tried to leave at that point, she was taken, placed under guard, monitored, cut off from communication outside, and finally drugged only to be transported to another location where she was held for over a month.
Quentin Hubbard
L. Ron Hubbard's son, Quentin, was 22 years old when he died in 1976. Sources who later left the organization have stated that Quentin was "an embarrassment" to Hubbard. In fact, upon hearing of his son's apparent suicide, Hubbard's only expressed concern was over the publicity problems the event was sure to cause.
Quentin was found on the side of road, in his car, with a hose piping exhaust fumes into the cabin. He was unkempt, unshaven, sitting next to an empty bottle of liquor, missing his wallet, and with needle-tracks in his arms. The license plate was missing from his car.
Quentin Hubbard was well-known among his friends for being meticulous about his appearance, and always clean shaven. His friends also noted that he did not drink or use drugs of any kind.
Jeremy Perkins
On March 13th, 2003, which also happens to be L. Ron Hubbard's birthday, Jeremy Perkins stabbed his mother 77 times with a 12 inch kitchen knife. He did not want to take the vitamins that the Church had given him, nor did he want to take a shower, both of which his mother, also a Scientologist, had tried coaxing him into doing.
Professionals believed that, had Jeremy been on proper medication, under actual medical care, his mother would still be alive today and he would be functional. Jeremy was fully delusional and believed at the time that his mother was not only trying to make him worse with the vitamins, but that she had an "evil eye." Jeremy stood alone in court, a murderer.
This is what happens when you believe everything people tell you.
Seeking out the opposite point of view is not only healthy, it's smart.

It's been a while since I posted, and I am sorry about that.
I have been dealing with a lot of stuff in my personal life. My roommate's Dad needs major surgery, and that means he has to move out and take care of his parents until they don't need him anymore.
I understand it's the right thing for him to do. I am just really sad about it. We have lived together for 10 years, and he is the best friend I have ever had. He is all packed and gone, and he took sweet Abbey Road with him. My heart hurts. Bad.
I turned on my computer and the first thing I saw on my screen was this photo I took of Abbey a couple months ago.
I am going to miss them so much and I can't stop crying.

Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I have been going through some things on the personal front. Don't worry, I'm fine.
This morning I woke up at 3 am and could not fall back asleep. I have been suffering from insomnia for about 10 years now, to the point that taking Tylenol PM before bedtime is pretty much habit. This, of course, is horrible for my liver, but no sleep is horrible for Andee. If anyone has any suggestions on cheap remedies to fall fast asleep, I am all ears!!!
Around 6 am I decided to go for a long walk... and I took my camera with me. I thought I would share some of the photos I took and get feedback on them as well. I will throw in some photos I took during the week, too. Roomie says my photos have taken a "dark" turn. Is he right? Hmm... maybe.

I don't know why I buy the cats toys. They prefer stuff that can easily be found for free. Take this, for instance. Spooky Bear prefers this plain old cardboard box to the kitty cat tree we bought her from PetSmart. She even eats in her box. I am thinking of painting something on the outside of it and naming it the "Kitty Cat Hotel."
Finally, these two photos are of outdoor cats that belong to my neighbors. They are both very friendly, and awesome in their own special way... I will let these photos speak for themselves!!!

I have a thing for crime blogs. I love keeping up on current events, but there is something about the legal system that fascinates me. Will they find the person responsible? Will there be an arrest? What kind of evidence do they have? What are the motives?
Sheri, Garrett and Gavin ColemanChris Coleman has been arrested and charged with the murder of his wife and two children. Authorities claim that the victims were found in their own beds and they died of ligature strangulation.
Chris claimed that he left the house around 6 am to go to the gym just a short distance away from the house. He said he tried calling the house to make sure his wife and children were getting up and ready for the kids' school day, and when he didn't succeed in getting anyone to pick up the phone, he called the cops for a welfare check on his family.
The cops arrived and gained access to the home. They found Sheri, Gavin and Garrett dead in their beds. There were also messages written on the walls in the home with red spray paint... saying things like "Punished" and "I saw you leave."
Investigators took their time and made sure they had enough evidence to make the charges stick before they arrested Chris Coleman for the murder. His story was more than fishy, and people quickly learned he had a girlfriend who worked as a hostess at a strip club in Florida. Also, Sheri's name was taken off the deed of the home in October of last year. Sheri's family and their legal team are not sure if the signature on the document was actually hers.
My gut tells me the police have it right. His story doesn't add up, and there is more evidence pointing at him every single day...

How can anyone even CONSIDER choking the life out of their family members in their own beds? Those poor boys probably saw the person who killed them, and they were probably as surprised as you could possibly be to see that it was their father.
Chris Coleman deserves a scum of the Earth award. Here are a few more people who have no soul... Sometimes, a nosy neighbor really comes to the rescue. Jennifer D’Silva’s neighbor heard her baby crying, obviously long enough to become concerned. Tamra Leasure, 43, has been charged with the shooting death of Arthur R. Tilley Jr., 57. This actually happened back in March, but Tamra is just now being charged with the crime. During an argument between the two, Tamra shot Arthur. In the head. In the neck. In the torso. She then placed the gun in his hand, called 911 and reported a suicide. Why it took a couple months to charge Tamra I have no clue, but I am sure that investigators figured out pretty quickly that Arthur probably didn’t shoot himself three times.
