I'm Tired of It!

This won't come as a shock to many of you, but I am sick of every single Mormon I know smirking in my presence about proposition 8. I have heard comments like:
  • The people have spoken, and so has the Lord.
  • The Catholic Church helped, too! Quit focusing on the Mormons!
  • This is proof we are close to the last days...
One of my friends received an email asking the recipients to store food, hide guns, take your money out of the banks, and prepare for something huge.

Here is a title and body of an email another friend received:

The WAR intensifies as The LDS Church is attacked in California

Follow the Prophet, because we need to be prepared as the war that started in the preexistence heats up. With the outcome of the latest elections, Good will be under many more attacks from evil, and this video is just the beginning on one of the many new fronts of this war.

Pure evil: http://www.youtube.com/user/CourageCampaign

May God be with us,
This is insane. What are they hearing at church every day? What in the world are the leaders thinking by trying to scare everyone?

If the Courage Campaign is pure evil, what does that make the LDS Church?

The church put out a statement yesterday mentioning that it was being singled out for participating in the Proposition 8 battle and that it was an election and people had spoken. They also went on to say that protests in "sacred places of worship" were wrong.

How about this Mormon Church? How about you stop feeling sorry for yourselves, because you are the ones who brought this on.

A person with the screen name "What Now" had this to say about the church and it's persecution complex after the vandalism at the LA temple:
Unfortunately, all it takes is one person to do something like this, for the fires of martyrdom to start burning.

I'm pretty sure that it will be a testimony-building/strengthening experience for the person washing that lipstick off. They'll be scrubbing away thinking that now they know exactly what the early members of the church went through. They'll choke up when they stand up and bear their testimony, and tell their tale of victimization.

Half the congregation will have that burning in their bosom, testifying that these are indeed the last days.

Someone will quote The Book of Revelation in Sunday School. In RS and PH, every quote from the sanitized JS sayings, will be that much more profound. JS was tarred and feathered, verily even killed, for the gospel. And now, here we are in the last days, and The Saints will once again have to sacrifice everything for what they believe in. One of the hymns sung will be "Who's on the Lord's side."

Within minutes, half of us will open our e-mail to find a message forwarded by a friend or relative "horrified by the hatred." Isaiah was right! Good will be called evil and evil will be called good. Wondering why The Apostates and The Gays hate them so much. Why can't they just leave the church alone?

So, yeah. This act of vandalism - even if it's "just" two words scribbled in lipstick on a fence - is going to be perceived by TBMs as an act of hate, intolerance and (religious) persecution. They will never be able to see the irony or understand that many people think what the LDS church has been doing for the last six months or so is an act of hate, intolerance and persecution.
I couldn't agree more.

We are not fulfilling any stupid Mormon prophecy, and we are not "picking on you." We are standing up and shouting that you had no right to do what you did, and we are going to call you on it and continue to do so.

We are not going away.

It's time to boycott Utah and Mormon businesses. Enough of their bigoted garbage.

    libhom,

I almost agree with you, but not all businesses are owned by LDSinc. Many businesses are in agreement with us regarding Prop 8, so I hope those who plan to boycot do their check on the business first!! :)

andee: Even if a business in Utah isn't owned by the Mormons, that business certainly has Mormon employees, and part of their paychecks will end up in the coffers of the Mormon Church.

    libmom,

But is that fair to people like me? If you stopped buying things from my company just because it's in Utah, my job would be in jeopardy. I can't afford to lose my job, believe me.

Also, just because someone is Mormon doesn't mean that they are pro h8. Thousands of people marched in Salt Lake City on Friday, and many of them belonged to the church. These people have stopped paying tithing to the church because of prop h8. Would it be fair to hurt their business?

I truly believe that people should do their homework before boycotting any business. It's not just the church you are hurting.
