Roomie just had me read an internet news article that left me shaking my head in disgust and amazement. What could have me so worked up? I will let the news article speak for itself. As usual, I take no credit for the news article... I can't seem to locate the journalist who wrote it, so I apologize for not giving complete information!
UPDATE: Thanks to waltzingaround for linking me to the authors name! Story By DOUGLAS B. BRILL
EASTON, Pa. - The father of 3-year-old Adolf Hitler Campbell, whose request for a birthday cake with the child's full name on it was rejected by a New Jersey supermarket, is asking for a little tolerance. For the rest of the article, please click here... then again, it might continue to piss you off in more ways than you can count. Don't say I didn't warn you!Heath Campbell and his wife, Deborah, are upset not only with the decision made by the nearby ShopRite, but also with an outpouring of angry Internet postings in response to a local newspaper article about the cake.
Heath Campbell, who is 35, said in an interview Tuesday that people should look forward, not back, and accept change.
"They need to accept a name. A name's a name. The kid isn't going to grow up and do what (Hitler) did," he said.
After ShopRite refused the request for the cake as inappropriate, the Campbells got a cake decorated at a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania, Deborah Campbell said.
About 12 people attended the birthday party on Sunday, according to Heath Campbell.
The Campbells' other two children also have unusual names: JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell turns 2 in a few months and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell will be 1 in April.
Here is the thing...
I know that his kids are not going to grow up and do the things Hitler did... at least, I certainly hope not, but not only is this asshat trying to memorialize Adolf Hitler and his actions, but he is setting his children up for judgment and scorn for their entire lives.
What is wrong with people?

You know, if it was just a matter of "oh, my kid happens to share a name with someone notorious for racism, murder, and bigotry" that would be one think, I mean, Barack Obama has the same issue with his middle name and people are finally starting to accept that sometimes a name is JUST a name.
With that said, their daughter's middle name is Aryan, and their other child has a name similar to Heinrich Himler [sp? it's been a while since I took Holocaust Studies!]. They wanted a swastika on the cake!? That is not merely a tolerance issue! If he is proud of his heritage, that is fantastic for him, but WWII doesn't merely represent a war, it represents a genocide that Hitler started.
Is it such a terrible thing to give a child a name? No, but to give them a name with the intention of carrying that connotation over to the next generation is VERY wrong.

Jackalyn,
I completely agree.
Not only is this guy really messing with the future of his kids' lives, but he is applauding and celebrating the horrific things these people did! I can't believe the ignorance that lies in some people!
Shocking.
