Me.
WindySydney began as an online journal detailing my exit from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Since leaving the Mormon Church, I have come to the conclusion that religion does more harm than good. I have also become an atheist, looking for logic and reason instead of accepting things on faith.
I also blog about things going on in my life. I am learning photography, I have a severe addiction to diet coke, I am a proud vegetarian, and I have two of the cutest cats in the world. Life is officially an adventure without the magical fairy-tale ending. I plan on enjoying it.

'they're all crazy'...thats fine, but religion plays a significant role in helping people and society as well. The problem with liberalism in today's society is that it is (a) way too arrogant for its own good and (b) far too dismissive of people's beliefs and structures which in actuality exist even if it is within their own minds. Calling people crazy because they hope in better things or believe in higher powers is dismissing people's higher thought perceptions and basically means you can attack anything. Nostalgia, Authenticity...all these things are surely constructs as well??

Yeah, this was funny. And those two republican wackos are just wonked out.

Bill Maher is awesome. He says everything I wish I could say.

Holy Crap, it's Nicko!
How are you? It's been a while :)
This shouldn't come as any surprise to you, but I agree with Maher. Putting your entire belief into something you have no proof of, and then on top of THAT there is proof to the opposite (Joseph Smith lying, other prophets lying, spreading false doctrine, DNA) is kind of crazy. Just my humble opinion.
I don't think that religious people are "crazy" but sometimes (alot of times) they don't think logically. Maybe thats how God wants us to think? (If there is a God).
Good to see you, kind sir.

Yes Kind ... what do you put there again? oh madam...total mental block there for a moment!!! haha...
Been busy mate, life is really hectic right now but still all is well...well except for the massive fires and the massive floods...but still all is well.
I agree with what you say, we 'religious' types don't think logically, but I think I've told you numerous times that religion is totally irrational. My point is however that there are a number of other irrational topics in the world that we seem to take for granted. Why stop at just religion? Why not the search for authenticity? etc,etc.... if you start at religion, surely you must progress to other 'constructed' areas of social and cultural life?
nice to see you are still fighting for what you believe in(even if we don't agree!)...and still taking great photos!

Nicko,
You were one of the first people I thought of when I saw the devastating coverage of the fires. My heart goes out to you and everyone else who is dealing with ANY kind of loss in regards to this.
*hugs*
If there is anything I can do, please let me know.

Andee,
Thanks for that, but to be honest, I'm far from the fires. Although I have a couple of good friends who are right in the thick of it. Horrible stuff, but at the same time, these things happen constantly throughout the world. I can't help but think that the media has overplayed this one ever so slightly.
Thanks again though.
