The only thing you have done in this post is to humanize members of the LDS Church. Humanization of Mormons does little to discredit Mormonism itself.
On the contrary - it makes the leadership much more real and accessible.
We can know that God does miraculous and amazing things through very imperfect people.
Thank you for helping to strengthen my testimony of the truthfulness of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There is nothing better than being an active Mormon and participating fully in the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How is it that I dehumanized anyone by listing a series of events that actually happened? These events are documented and real. Are you ashamed of the events? Angered by the things I had to say? If so, you are directing your anger at the wrong person.
I don't need to de-humanize anyone to show evidence the church isn't what it claims to be. The facts do that all by themselves. :) The only thing you have done in your comment is make yourself look like someone who doesn't know what they are talking about.

I think the trend that Mormonism is going is that of celebrating the humanity of their prophets and using them as an example of God's love and forgiveness. There will come a time when people no longer remember that these men were in fact deified and place on unreachable pedestals. There will come a time when much of what they said will be considered opinions of fallible men.
However, the humanization of Mormon leaders, biblical characters, and the fictional ones found in the Book of Mormon actually discredits Mormonism by two ways. First, by acknowledging the sinful nature of Joseph Smith you basically say that every single soul will make it to the Celestial Kingdom - I am completely confident that if Mormonism is true, I have no concern. Second, by acknowledging the sinful nature of Mormonism's past, you no longer have a hold in prescribing behaviours. Joseph Smith lied, committed adultery, defamed his friends, robbed the poor, exalted himself as king, etc. etc. etc. Any behaviour is acceptable when Joseph Smith is used as an example.
It is an utter joke to think that anyone requires his permission to get into heaven!

Shouldn't Mormonism be proving that their prophets are indeed prophets? I mean, if you are going to call a man a prophet, seer and revelator and then give excuses over and over again when they fail to do any of those things is funny as hell.
There will come a time when you realize that you were mistaken. It wasn't fun when I came to that conclusion, but I thank heaven every day it happened. Now I know what it's like to have the truth... and HONESTY.
Joseph Smith was a liar, a cheater, and basically one of the biggest con mans that ever lived. You don't realize that now because you are in the Mormon bubble.
Mormons all but worship men like Joseph Smith and Brigham young, and they know NOTHING of their true character. That is a travesty... and like I said, one day you might realize that. Just take off those goggles and take a look around. You won't regret it.
You are right, it *is* an utter joke to think that anyone requires his permission to get into heaven... it's such a shame that most Mormons don't know that.
