As many know, I have been blogging about my experiences in and out of the Mormon Church since November of 2007. I have talked about things that I never dared talk about when I was a child, or even a young adult. It was a big step starting this blog, and it has helped me immensely... even when that scary stalker-guy was bugging me.
At work today I was asked about what I like to do in my free time. Of course I mentioned photography right away, and then I told my co-worker that I have a blog. I didn't think before I spoke. I am not ashamed of my blog in the slightest, it's just not in my best interests to let everyone at my new job know my feelings about the church yet. It would be career suicide.
My point is that it sucks to even have to worry about it. Why should people care if I disagree with their religion? I might say things, but it's my opinion and what I believe... right? The Mormon Church can send out missionaries to preach their gospel, but I can't have a simple blog?
It's emotionally draining to think about how many people who know me either at work or in social settings would ignore me or stop talking to me because of what *I* believe.
Isn't it sad that I have to worry about that?
I know of many people who have wanted to leave the church but couldn't due to business reasons... they would lose their livelihood. Many people had to move to a new town to start over because everyone stopped talking to them and their kids. What is wrong with this picture? Why should people have to do that?
Sorry... needed to rant.
Me.
WindySydney began as an online journal detailing my exit from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Since leaving the Mormon Church, I have come to the conclusion that religion does more harm than good. I have also become an atheist, looking for logic and reason instead of accepting things on faith.
I also blog about things going on in my life. I am learning photography, I have a severe addiction to diet coke, I am a proud vegetarian, and I have two of the cutest cats in the world. Life is officially an adventure without the magical fairy-tale ending. I plan on enjoying it.

I'm not against you having your little blog, what I am against is the fact that you went to Church for two years of your life and now consider youself an expert on every doctrine the church has. When you say you talk to the Bishop or other leaders you are going with the mindset that no matter what they say they are wrong and nothing is going to change your mind. Also getting your information from other anti-mormon websites doesn't count as really looking for answers. Half the stuff you say is half truths that you simply accept as doctrine. Maybe you should post some actual LDS websites up and then let other people decide for themselves instead of finding as many negative things as possible and posting those.

"I'm not against you having your little blog, what I am against is the fact that you went to Church for two years of your life and now consider youself an expert on every doctrine the church has."
Thank you for not being against my "little" blog.
I have no idea where you got the idea that I only went to church for 2 years. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 29 years, thank you.
I have never once told anyone, ever, that I was an expert on anything. I discuss my views and problems with the church. If you don't like it, tough. Sorry.

Wow, how many times are people going to say that to me? Seriously… side note here… it’s like a standard reply I get from every Mormon that tries to prove me wrong. I wasn't looking to disprove anything! I wanted answers. I asked my Mom’s bishop about the issues I had, and I was open and honest. The answers he gave me didn't satisfy me, and this blog is where I talk about them. If you don't like it, tough, sorry.

Really? What exactly are you talking about? Which half of my stuff is half-truths? Please tell me. Prove me wrong. I BEG you! Study for yourself. Please.
As for listing pro-Mormon sites on this blog, I always have. Please look to the right hand side, and see the list under "Mormon, ExMormon and Religious Websites."
Have a pleasant day.

Why don't you ever discuss other religions? Why is it always the LDS church? You beleifs always seem to attacking the LDS church. If you discussed your beliefs pertianing to the whole world with every religion and what you don't like about each religion then people would probably stop accusing you of being anti-mormon.

"Why don't you ever discuss other religions? Why is it always the LDS church? You beleifs always seem to attacking the LDS church."
Because that is what is going on in my life and what is on my mind right now. It's what my blog is about. Seems pretty self-explanatory to me.
"If you discussed your beliefs pertianing to the whole world with every religion and what you don't like about each religion then people would probably stop accusing you of being anti-mormon."
I do. Many times I have mentioned that I don't believe in organized religion at all. Many... many times.
Again, my exit form Mormonism is on my mind and that is what I talk about. If you don't like it, sorry. It's how it is.
I am not an "anti-Mormon." Nicko, a Mormon who has posted here many times, understands where I am coming from. We agree to disagree on things, and he is a nice guy. Am I anti-Nicko? Nope. Not at all. I think he is a nice guy who likes to share his opinion and much as I like to share mine.
There has to be a different argument from you other than the poor-picked on Church. After all, the Mormon Church has called the Catholic Church the "great abominable church" in the past. Why are they lashing out? Are you going to get upset with them for doing that??
You can accuse me of anything you want. It doesn't make it true.
If you want to talk on this blog, I welcome it just like I welcomed Nicko and his polite conversation. There is no need to start calling anyone an "anti-anything." I disagree with you. Thats all. I voice my opinion, you voice yours... no need to label each other, right?
Toodles.

Anti-Nicko!!! Sounds pretty harsh :)
I just had to say that the Church never really said that the Catholic Church was the great abominable church, it was Elder McConkie who said that. Later retracted when the church asked him to take it out of Mormon Doctrine. His opinion.
I think the great and abominable church personally is neo-liberalism......or Coca-Cola (hahaha)
BTW...thanks for calling me a nice guy....many would disagree hahaha.
