A Major Re-Activation Effort?

Posted by: Andee / Category: ,

One thing my friends on PostMormon.org and I all have in common is that we have been contacted by missionaries or bishops within the past few weeks. We can't help but wonder if there is a major re-activation effort going on. Of course, the church is always trying to herd it's stray members back into the pig-pen, but it seems as if the effort has grown noticeably.

Some say it's because they are having trouble getting converts due to the internet sites available showing the truth about the history of the church, others think it's just something the new prophet is doing to make a mark. Whatever it is, we have noticed.

One of my online pals recently ran into a ward member in the supermarket, and the ward member went on and on about how much she missed my friend and his family. Here is the thing... there is no need to miss them. They are in the same house, they have the same phone number, and lets not even mention how easy it is for people to email each other.

Why is it that the ward member "misses" them? Because they don't go to church anymore, and they don't associate with them because of that. I seriously might lose it if someone ever says that to me.

Every Sunday people leave hand-outs on my apartment door from church. Sharing scriptures from the Book of Mormon (lets face it... it's definitely not scripture...) and begging me to show up to church so everyone in my ward can meet me. If they really want to meet me so badly, they can stop by my house (and call first, hopefully.) If they really "missed" me, (how can they miss me if they have never met me) they would take effort to get to know me outside the church setting. Why does it always have to be about the church? The only reason they are talking to me and contacting me is BECAUSE of the church. If they saw me walking down the street they wouldn't give a flying rats ass, would they?

What I am getting at here, is that they don't really care about me as a person. They care about me as a number. They want me active again because I might pay tithing and help with the ward duties. They are not interested in getting to know *me.* It's not what they can do to help me, it's what I can do to help them.

Gives me a headache.

Once they realize I am not going to come back to the church I will be dropped like a hot potato. They won't "care" about me or "love" me enough to bother.

The whole thing is insincere. Walking up to complete strangers and telling them how much you miss and love them is stupid. Instead of doing it this way, why won't the church just talk about the issues openly? Why don't they discuss the DNA issue and tell the members they changed the introduction to the Book of Mormon?

Why doesn't the church admit the translation happened with a peep stone in a top hat with the plates nowhere in the room?

Why doesn't the church talk openly about women rights and what they could do to make the situation better?

Lets talk about the real issues here, not about how much you miss us.

Most Post Mormons miss the friends they had while in church. We just realize that we can't be part of a church that lies to it's own members. We actually stand up for what is right, instead of following blindly. Would the church miss people who spoke up? Nope. In order to be back in the church we would have to conform, and we won't do it anymore.

More and more people are leaving the church, and it's about time. I truly believe that the church will be it's own undoing. They covered things up, and outright lied to people...

I am so glad I found your blog (from Post Mormon). The church doesn't talk about women's rights because it actively fought to prevent them. They don't talk about the peepstone because they know people would think that they are crazy for believing it.

The reality is that if the church believed everything they said they did, they wouldn't hide the peepstone info from it's members. The JS manual they taught from would talk about his wives-inlcuding the 14 year old. Or that he was caught with another woman before the "revelation" of polygamy.

The church can still reverese the damage-by being honest, humble, allowing all to have equal rights (gays, lesbians, women, etc.). Being honest. Doing the right things, etc. Large corporations do it all of the time. The church, with so many members, has so much potential to do good. Imagine if all missionaries did service missions-teaching hygene, first aid, building schools, etc. Imagine if instead of building so many buildings that are not being used they took the money to pay for malaria treatments, and other simple medication that can save lives.

As institution this large can do great things, but also has potential for so many bad things.

    Hey Sydney,
I found this very special report and the subject is ELDER LYNN MICKELSON SAID THAT THE LDS CHURCH IS NOT GROWING AND HINCKLEY IS CHEWING PEOPLE OUT.

This summer 2006 lynn a mickelson visited my parents ward.He was visiting a friend of his and came to church not in a official visit, but as a visitor. He of coarse sat on the stand and volunteered to do a g&a session during sunday school.

Elder mickelson was one of the most laid back general authorities I have ever met in the church. He was a very likeable guy.He was also halfway honest and said things I have never ever heard a top church leader say.

Elder mickelson said the main job of a seventy is to regulate the church. He went into some examples of how the church in different areas gets off track and how keeping it in line is a constant struggle. He said one ward in california had the aronic priesthood wear speacial uniforms to pass the sacrament. How another ward signaled the sacrament was done by playing a little ditty on the organ.

He said the people and leaders in the church are well meaning but some get carried away.He gave the example of stake patriarchs going to far in the blessing like telling the recipient they will be a general authority in the future. He said we all can get too carried away trying to do a good thing to where we are no longer in harmony with the lord.

He also told the story of how his colleagues in salt lake city looked real depressed one day.It turns out they had just came from a meeting where gordon b. hinckley chewed everyone out for the church's low growth numbers. He said right now the church's loses almost as many members as it brings in.He said the biggest growth factor was having babies in the church.

He also said the second coming was not going to be anytime soon. There is too much work to be done.

Most of the sheep in sunday school said they really felt the spirit and blah blah blah. What brainwashed fools! Here we had a ga saying the church is losing members like a sieve, you patriarch may not be inspired, and all the last days hype of the 1980's is gone.Jesus ain't coming anytime soon he said because mormonism has not conquered the earth yet.

These people still worshipped the dude because he was a ga and basked in their group think worship.the guy could have said anything and they still would have lapped it up like a thirsty kitten.

SCARY I had more respect for elder mickelson than the members of the ward.He at least was laying it down halfway truthfully.Hope he do not get in trouble if gordo reads this.

The author of this special report also said Sydney,I have never seen so much reckless church spending in all my life.that all started with gordo. no way would ezra taft benson or spencer w kimball ok what has been going on.Even lifelong tbm's I know are not happy about the big mall complex. two billion dollars on a new shopping mall.

The history of organizations that do not have to report their finances to anyone is not good. they all tend to overspend and over indulge.Sometimes this brings their demise or at least shrinks the organization substantially.

What the church is doing in downtown salt lake is reckless and stupid.they are burning money just for the hell of it.No way are they going to get a return on what they are spending anytime soon.To recover $1.5 billion is a lot of mall rent.

But Syd like another author said this is good news for two reasons. The church is not growing.

And the church is not growing due to the top leadership and their leaders.they must surely sense there is a bit of a problem here.

Because in this special report sydney gbh is admitting out loud that lds inc growth is stagnate.for the purpose of softening up the faithful so they are not shocked when the period of stake and ward consolidation starts in earnest.

As stated above births are going down.according to their own statistics, convert baptisms are also going down.number of mishies is going down.converts per mishie is going down.according to reports here, resignations are going up.general defections with or without resignation have been going up.

And the author also said that I bet the conversion of golden families and middle class wasp types is way down.

All of this adds up to looming demographic disaster.Like I said gbh is softening up the troops for the inevitable announcement that the stone is not rolling forth filling the earth. It is stuck in a mud hole and is slowly sinking.

So yes Syd like I said before it is closing time for the mormon cult because everything points to members leaving in droves, and that is why the lds cult have started this major pr blitz of re-activation.but the only thing is it is not a pr stunt lds inc really is in major trouble.for memebers are finding out about joseph smith twisted dark past.

We might agree they are brainwashed donangelo, but calling them fools is wrong. They are not fools, they just don't have the information we have.

Truly Confused, I am happy you found the blog, too! You have added many helpful insights into your comments on the articles and I look forward to seeing what you have to say.

You are so right when you say that they have the ability to do great things. I wish they would. Instead they are lying to the general membership and spending money on things that could help people. The lives that could be saved with the 2 billion dollars is astronomical.

I don't think that God would be too happy with this kind of thing... I really don't.

Well, I left (but have not resigned) when I realized that God doesn't do things the way the mormon church does.
