Why is it that the church gets away with so much?

How did they get so much control over the membership? Control over their money, their families, their beliefs. It's just normal to them... no one bats an eye. Even when confronted with evidence of whitewashing or outright lying!

Why doesn't the church share it's financial reports? Is there a good reason for that? No. Not really. Is it because they don't want to brag about all the "good things" they do? I doubt it. I truly believe it's because they don't want anyone to know just how much money they really have. How many companies they own. How much goes to charity vs. how much goes to the church's own interests (like a 2 billion dollar shopping mall in Salt Lake City.)

Why is it that the church continues to tell the story of the translation of the Book of Mormon in a way that is untrue? Why are the showing paintings to kids and investigators that are historically incorrect? It's dishonest. Why is it they are getting away with that?

There are millions more questions I could ask here...

If I sit back and ignore the problems, am I enabling the church to continue it's lies and deception?

Sometimes PostMormons sit back and keep their mouths shut because we don't want to offend our family and friends who remain in the church. We love them very much, and we don't want to create more drama than our exit already caused... but is the drama worth it? Doesn't everyone deserve to know the truth?

Isn't it kind of ironic that the church's own media campaign is called "Truth Restored?" What truth? Where is this truth?

I agree. It's so wrong. If people want to believe in the craziness that's fine, but they should be told the ENTIRE truth in it before they make that choice. That is one reason I have a problem with Baptism at 8. When was the last time you heard a child saying " I know polygamy was a commandment of God" or "I understand why brians mom couldn't watch him get married, after all she isn't worthy to be in the house of god" Um, Never. It's that bull shit "Milk before Meat" again. It makes me angry.

    Hey Sydney,

I have been thinking about these questions what you have been asking about the mormon cult.

And I just thought that I would break bread with all of you beautiful people.

Because the word of God tells us in the book of Ecclesiastes WHO CAN UNDERSTAND GOD'S PLAN?

Because whatever happens was planned long ago.

Everyone knows what people are like.

No one can argue with God,who is stronger than anyone.

The more you say,the more useless it is.

What good does it do? ecclesiastes 10-11

And ecclesiastes also tells us Sydney that GOD CONTROLS HIS WORLD

For God has given them a desire to know the future.

He does everything just right and on time, but people can never completely understand what he is doing. 11-12

So relax everyone because God is in control.

But I also do think and believe Syd that the reason the lds cult do not give a record or a account of all of their financial records is because something illegal is going on.

Because anytime you are doing something illegal.

It has been proven time and time again by the law and the courts that whenever something illegal is going on that a organization will try to hide and keep out of the public documentation and records of all of their transactions.

Um,,,,,perhaps you should do some actual homework before you blast people for not disclosing financial information. The LDS church is a non-profit organization, and as such falls under this IRS category. People donate money, and the church sells nothing, so it is classified under this law.
Do a google search on non-profit organizations, and you will find thousands that do not disclose.

    Ummmm....

Actually, it's very common knowledge that the LDS Church doesn't share it's financial records with the public. The info they do share is incomplete.

The church sells tons of stuff, under different company names. Simple.
